This year marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of the gallery, which, as you no doubt know, was in Seville. It wasn’t until thirteen years later, in 1983, that we opened the branch in Madrid, and in 2004 that we closed up the space in Seville to be able to spend all the time and energy on Madrid.
During this long road, we’ve been fortunate to have lived through a very important period in the history of Spain. Each stage has produced so many life-changing events that the gallery wanted to do part by getting involved and putting all the enthusiasm into different projects, all carried out from a variety of different angles in the world of Contemporary Art.
We are thrilled to celebrate this 40th anniversary, since we consider it a really important date both for the gallery. As soon as we made the decision, we immediately understood that the best way to celebrate it was by sharing a project with the artists who have joined the gallery on this long journey.
We also believe that the project we present to you today is a truly extraordinary proposal. We will be carrying it out all year long, starting with this exhibition of Heimo Zobernig and finishing at the end of the next season.
